Dr. Morrine Omolo is a Zawadi Africa Education Fund Scholar from Kenya and a former Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Fellow. She holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Fairleigh Dickinson University (Teaneck, NJ), and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Food Science from UMN Twin Cities. She is certified in Food Defense (IAVA), FSMA Preventive Controls (PCQI), HACCP and SQF Post Farm Gate. Morrine joined the UMN - Department of Food Science and Nutrition as a Food Safety Extension Specialist in January 2021.
She represents the state of Minnesota in the North Central Food Safety Extension Network, an organization of 12 states working collaboratively to provide the latest up to date food safety information and training for food entrepreneurs in the region. She is also a member of the National Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences, the International Association for Food Protection, and The Honors Society for Food Science and Technology (Phi Tau Sigma).
