Map of Meat Plants with Continuous Inspection

Last updated: January 29, 2025

Introduction

This map shows meat, poultry, and rabbit processing plants that may be accessible to farmers who market their own products as packaged products.

We did our best to show plants that most likely do processing under continuous inspection for farmers, and to weed out the ones that don't, but we make no claim to perfection. There is frequent change as plants change their inspection status and change the services they offer. This map is a starting point.

This map does not include custom-exempt processing plants. See the sidebar for more information about custom-exempt plants.

Toggle map layers on and off to show Minnesota Equal-To plants and USDA plants that offer continuous inspection for slaughter and processing of meat, poultry, and rabbits.

Click on a bubble to show more details and contact information for that plant.

Check directly with a plant to verify what species they accept.

Many plants that offer MN Equal-To or USDA continuous inspection also offer custom-exempt processing on days an inspector is not present. Custom-exempt meat and poultry is for the owner of the animal only and is marked "Not for Sale." If you intend to sell packages of meat, poultry, or rabbit, make sure you ask for butcher dates when continuous inspection is available at the plant.

What are Minnesota Equal-To plants?

Minnesota Equal-To plants offer slaughter and processing under continuous inspection by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Dairy & Meat Inspection Division. Meat, poultry, or rabbit slaughtered and processed under continuous inspection at a Minnesota Equal-To plant can be marketed equal to USDA inspection, within the borders of Minnesota. It cannot be sold or distributed outside of Minnesota. Complete list of Minnesota Equal-To plants

What are USDA plants?

USDA plants offer slaughter and processing under continuous inspection by the United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS.) Meat, poultry, or rabbit slaughtered and processed under continuous inspection at a USDA plant can be marketed anywhere in the United States, including Tribal Trust lands.
